Help us Save Our Communities: They are Thirsting for Knowledge

I am a Massachusetts native and currently reside at Washington, DC. I have been an Education Director for the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Washington. I also facilitated a Parents Anonymous Support Group. I am very determined, energetic and resourceful when it comes to investigating or researching a topic. I am in the process of having my own program to air on a local network, make a documentary, and write my own book. My research is based on personal knowledge of issues and ideas of ways to improve them. I am a graduate of Virginia State University where I received my bachelor’s degree in sociology. I then went on and completed my master’s degree in Public Administration. I headed a mayoral campaign and completed leadership classes. I acquired extensive knowledge working with youth, managing and developing programs. I began my career in elementary school when I was a participant in the beauty pageant. Afterwards during high school, I graduated from Barbizon Modeling School.

Nikitta's Resource Center Updates

Clubhouse #11 is closing in a couple a days and there will be no place for the at-risk teens to go during the after school hours until the evening. During these hours is when teenage crime is being committed. Many of our leaders are aware that the process has taken place but will not stop it. The next process is for the community to speak out and make a organized stand along with us (Bridging the Gaps For Us, Inc.) to let out leaders know we are not going to stand for this.

The 3 Boys & Girls Clubs in the Capital Hill area and other parts of NW were award millions of dollars to keep their clubs open and they are trying to take programs away in ours. The leaders stated that once they close #11 Boys & Girls Club there is $300,000 in funds allocated to reopen a recreation facility at the Anacostia High School. Now we know what is really going to open. Do not be fooled, become involved.

Introduction To My Program

I want to introduce a new idea to help people resolve their issues by being an advocate for them and pointing them in the right direction. This is also to help working class people that would not get free services because they make to much money or do not fit the bracket for local collaborative. We find people resources needed to improve their lifestyle and/or family. A person might need to know what service they could receive for their house hold if they have been unemployed. I would email, fax, or mail a list of resources that matches the family’s status so they will not have to go through a broad range of resources to figure out which one they are qualified for. Overall, this will improve the quality of life with communities. Countless amounts of people that do not know what services are available to them will become accustom; Non-profits or government agencies could meet their quota. Please help us save our communities, they are thirsting for knowledge.

What We Will Accomplish

The Community Resource Center will promote and enhance the development of youth by instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging and influence. The Community Resource Center may seek sustainable change within under-served communities by consistently promoting opportunity, self-esteem, self-love, optimism and future aspiration. The Community Resource Center will empower disenfranchised communities on how to recognize available resources. Citizens will see different ways to maintain a healthy and prosperous lifestyle. I will relay experiences and history of the world through other people’s knowledge to my clients.
